DSLR CF Write Speed Test
How fast can your camera write to your memory card?
1.
MB Size:
Set the size (in bytes) that will be written to your camera's memory card. For example, on the Nikon D300, a Large TIFF is known to be around 38,000,000 bytes, so five pictures would total 190,000,000 bytes. If you don't know, update this figure
after
timing below, when you can examine the memory card and see how many bytes were written:
bytes
2.
Test:
Take five (or so) pictures. When the camera CF light comes on, press 'Start'. When the CF light goes out, press 'Stop'. Try for a test where the CF light says on for approx 10 seconds:
Start / Stop

4.
Validate:
Examine your memory card and the total MB written to validate that your MB estimate in the first step was proper. Adjust the MB size in the first step as needed (which will then update the results figures).
5.
Restart:
Press 'Refresh' in your web browser to restart the test. Please note that for CF cards, 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes (whereas in computer memory, 1 MB is 1,048,576 bytes).
